We are all experiencing major, sudden disruption of our habits and daily routines. The impact of this level of unprecedented changes and circumstances is mind-boggling. We may be in for a marathon of sprints, as we work to other side of this very serious health and economic crisis.
I’ve asked a number of people if it would be helpful to have brief weekly snapshots and updates, based upon what we are learning from week to week, in this rapidly changing environment – I kept on receiving indisputable ”yeses” – so here we go, for the next 13 weeks. Let’s get started.
Here’s some of what I’m currently hearing from other people:
I’m stressed out.
I’m overwhelmed.
I’m beside myself.
I’m discombobulated.
I don’t know which end is up.
I’m having a hard time focusing.
I don’t know how much more I can take.
As I wrote last week, when asked by a colleague, I suggested we confirm clear health and financial buoyancy for balance of 2020. Are our long-term plans still fundamentally solid? How about for next 90 days? Do we all have best routines, disciplines, practices and habits in place?
Another colleague inspired me this weekend with his recent update – “I’m staying focused, keeping perspective, using my planner, working out, staying in touch, washing my hands, keeping physically distant, and choosing to adopt that role model mindset.”
Time to innovate, to serve your most important needs? With compassion & effectiveness – manage whatever the impact of current crisis is having on you now while building your future.
