Will We Keep Any Possible Burnout at Bay?? How To Optimize Creative Collaborations??

“All you can do is do what you must. You do what you must do, and you do it well.”

 Bob Dylan

To all our highly valued clients and acquaintances:

From personal experiences, as well as speaking with and observing many other people, I invite you to consider these recent messages from The Mayo Clinic Health System.

“The pace of life today is crazy. Many people juggle multiple responsibilities — work, home life, caregiving, and relationships. How many times have you felt like the demands, expectations and time pressure are exhausting and relentless?

Humans aren’t programmed to go through life without rest, solitude, or downtime. The past 18 months have brought multiple changes or stress-inducing situations, including the COVID-19 pandemic; economic strain; racial unrest; political division; and environmental disasters, such as wildfires and hurricanes.

With everything going on, it’s easy to get blindsided by stress and burnout.”

One of my mentors, who consistently hums, may be on to something. Is it a good thing?

“Research has shown humming to be much more than a self-soothing sound: it affects us on a physical level, reducing stress, inducing calmness, and enhancing sleep as well as lowering heart rate and blood pressure (and releases endorphins )”

Let’s make 2022 to be a year to Optimize Our Creative Collaborations

As the old expression goes, “two heads are better than one.” Of course, if both of us are thinking and working in the same ways, one of us may not be necessary. 😊😊 We are looking to create strengths in differences and to develop complementary, synergistic dynamics. When people with a high trust relationship rigorously and robustly dialogue,

oftentimes new ideas, inspiration, energy, innovations, and momentum are newly born.

One of my favorite words in recent years is inter-developmental. Not my way or your way, but let’s see if we can come with a better way or Third Alternatives. Stephen R. Covey’s 2011 book, The 3rd Alternative: Solving Life’s Most Difficult Problems, is a definitive step in that direction, for our increasingly complex lives and fast-paced world.

How do I know if I am ready for such higher level and accountable dynamics?

One set of resources that I have found to be helpful over the years has been from The Alliance-Ability Checklist ©,which is included in the book SmartMatch Alliances ™.

These are the Fifteen Top Take-Home Lessons of Great Groups

One of the best books I have ever studied on this topic was titled Organizing Genius: The Secrets of Creative Collaboration, written over 20 years ago by Warren Bennis, who was widely regarded as the pioneer of the contemporary field of leadership.

Create a Personal Mission Control Center, to focus on what you can control.

For NASA’s Mission Control Centers in Florida and Houston, Texas, a mission control center (MCC, sometimes called a flight control center or operations center) is a facility that manages space flights, usually from the point of launch until landing or the end of the mission. It is part of the ground segment of spacecraft operations.

You can create your version of a central command from which you can collaborate.

To the degree that you can expand and strengthen your own healthy self-reliance and responsible independence, to that degree you can be more effectively interdependent.

As the legendary theoretical physicist Albert Einstein was often known to say:

For most people, if not all humanity, the times that we currently live in are extraordinarily demanding, both personally and culturally. To meet these historical moments, I believe that it calls for an unprecedented level of respectful dialogue, creative collaborations, and helpful innovations. It’s a time to bring forth our best selves and to do our best work.

And as Peter Drucker, described as “the founder of modern management”, said:

WDYT?? Let me know what you are up to and what you might be up against.

I look forward to expanding our relationship and our future efforts together.

Wishing for You the Best Possible Year in 2022 and certainly way beyond…

With sincere and deep appreciation,

Coach Don
