As one of my most respected colleagues recently inspired me in his weekly column, I surely want to pass the essence of his reflections and encouragements on to us all.
As I have shared with many other people over the years, Thanksgiving remains one of my favorites, and least-commercial holidays. In turbulent and somewhat uncertain times like the ones we are living through now, I would also say – it’s a very much desired one.
Most of all, I hope we can all celebrate this unique American holiday with the family and friends that we love and care for the most, especially as a time for us to newly connect.
I’d agree that Thanksgiving is our opportunity to gather with our loved ones, to reaffirm our social bonds, to enjoy each other’s company, and to appreciate the good we have.
I’d even say the primary value of our Thanksgiving gatherings, while certainly enjoying some great food, refreshments and entertainment, is not just to eat, but to be together.
This joyous gathering is The Essence of Thanksgiving, IMO. I hope you can enjoy the various sounds and diverse energies of both young and old around your holiday tables.
