To all our highly valued clients and acquaintances:
I’m a big advocate of being unstoppable. Part of that includes that we periodically stop.
Sometimes we need to be stoppable – take a break – refresh – catch our breath – reset – reconstitute ourselves – chart courses for our next stage – create clarity for ourselves.
I recently asked a client: shall we brainstorm what might be an unprecedented energizing breakthrough crescendo finish to 2020 and a banner launch for 2021?
Within days, we did a zoom call with key people to review and discuss these questions: A Quick Summary of your experiences this year, since January 1st:
How is it going? What have you been able to accomplish so far, this year? Recently?
At this point in time, in this environment, what’s working? What’s not working?
What are you learning? What wisdom have you gained? What do you see as next?
What do you believe or think needs more focus right now, for the next 3-4 months?
What are you most grateful for this year, so far? Anything else you want to now say?
We become what we consistently think about – where focus goes, energy flows.
In recent days, in an effort to consider other perspectives for myself and the work we do, I starting this MasterClass on how to develop the leadership qualities of exceptional American presidents, by Pulitzer Prize–winning biographer Doris Kearns Goodwin. We become what we consistently think about – where our focus goes, our energy flows.
Her intent for the course cites that it’s about people who lived before us. Just as we learned from our parents and our grandparents, we can learn from these figures in history. It means that you’re able to provide layers onto your life that make you a much deeper person…we can then learn together from them the kind of lessons of human nature that will affect us in our daily lives, not just as leaders, not just as potential political figures, not just as public servants, but rather just as human beings.

I’ve also been looking at her most recent book, Leadership: In Turbulent Times – September 18, 2018

To best serve you and support your ongoing growth, what’s the next book you will read?
What’s the next course you will take? Who’s the next teacher with whom you will study?
Let us know, if you will – we will reciprocate and help us all to spread those good words. Final note for this month – a goal exercise, for just a few minutes. Stop. Write.
We can newly create ourselves in language and cause previews of coming attractions.
What are 3 business and 3 personal goals you would most like to accomplish in the next 90 days? What are the 2 action steps per goal, you could take to move in that direction?
As you are writing your goals, you may want to ask yourself questions such as:
What do I want to have more or less of in my business?
What do I want in my life that I do not have right now?
May you finish your 2020 year strong with great joy and energy.
We are gratefully yours and at your service
Best
